UV Ink
UV ink, short for ultraviolet ink, is a specialized type of ink used in UV printing processes. UV ink is formulated with photoinitiators that undergo polymerisation when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, resulting in instant curing and adhesion to the substrate.
UV ink possesses the following properties:
- Instant Curing: UV ink cures rapidly upon exposure to UV light, resulting in immediate drying and adhesion to the substrate. This allows for high-speed printing and increased production efficiency. Read more about curing.
- Adhesion: UV ink forms a strong bond with a wide range of substrates, including plastics, metals, glass, ceramics, and paper, resulting in durable and long-lasting prints.
- Versatility: UV ink can be used for printing on both flexible and rigid substrates, making it suitable for a variety of applications, including signage, packaging, labels, and promotional products.
- High Quality: UV ink produces vibrant colours, sharp details, and consistent results, making it ideal for applications that require superior print quality and color accuracy.
UV ink is used in various industries and applications, including:
- Signage and Displays: UV ink is widely used for printing indoor and outdoor signage, banners, point-of-sale displays, and architectural graphics on a variety of substrates.
- Packaging: UV ink is suitable for printing on packaging materials such as paperboard, corrugated cardboard, plastic films, and flexible packaging, providing high-quality graphics and brand identification.
- Labeling: UV ink is used for printing labels and stickers for product labeling, branding, and identification, offering resistance to abrasion, moisture, and chemical exposure.
- Decorative Printing: UV ink enables the customisation of glassware, ceramics, promotional products, and novelty items with vibrant and durable designs.
